The Order of the Goldfish

 

The goldfish is a creature that has been bred, from a basic wild stock, into a highly artificial form. The basic stock from which it comes still exists, both within the genes of the animal and also in the natural environment. However, the goldfish is maintained in its divergent forms. It is not accidental, or natural, for goldfish to exist and to continue to breed as they do. There is a process of unnatural selection occurring.

 

It came as quite a shock when, following the examination of Nazi papers captured in 1943, the West discovered that mankind is no different. Humanity has also been maintained, bred, selected unnaturally. Our own wild stock still exists, in tiny numbers, in the wild forests. However what is striking is the way our own "aquarium keepers" select us for breeding.

 

Once this secret was uncovered, the Allies covered it up again immediately. The second world war was far from won, and the paranoia that this revelation would have caused would have been totally unacceptable.

 

From 1943 to today, anyone making that discovery again, is dealt with harshly. A group were entrusted with the secret, and with the protection of that secret. That group are known as the Order of the Goldfish.
